Allos Therapeutics About
Allos Therapeutics: Allos Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical
company focused on developing and commercializing innovative drugs for improving
cancer treatments. The company’s lead clinical candidate, Efaproxiral,
is a synthetic small molecule that has the potential to sensitize hypoxic (oxygen
deprived) tumor tissues and enhance the efficacy of standard radiation therapy.
Allos is currently in the process of submitting a New Drug Application (NDA) for
Efaproxiral to the FDA for the treatment of patients with brain metastases from
breast cancer. In January 2003, Allos licensed PDX from the Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Southern Research Institute and SRI International.
PDX is a novel small molecule cytotoxic injectable antifolate (DHFR inhibitor)
that has enhanced potency and toxicity profile relatvie to methotrexate. It is
being developed for non-small cell lung
cancer, mesothelioma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Pipeline: NIH
